Meg and I went down to the London Bloggers Meetup last night to show off our new iPhone app, the Event Radar which was released yesterday. It was great to see a lot of people excited about our new venture and it seems like a lot of people were already downloading it!

We didn’t have time to bask in the glory though as we soon left to join the rest of the Spoonfed crew at a team outing. The whole office headed down to Ginglik in West London to support Years of Rice and Salt as a battle of the bands night. Our Senior Developer Julian is the guitarist in the band and all the Spoonfed crew trooped along to offer our support. We’ll have to wait a few days to find out how they did, but it was great to see some old and new Spoonfed faces together to relax after a busy weeks with a few drinks, great live music and plenty of noodles.
Today is a very exciting day at Spoonfed as we are launching London’s first location based iPhone application for events. If you’re ever stuck in the pub with a few friends and not sure what to do next, the Event Radar gives you quick and easy access to all the events going on around you now.
The Spoonfed Event Radar helps you make plans while you are on the move by finding your location and building a picture of what’s going on around you to include everything from music, comedy, exhibitions, club nights and pub based fun. The whole Spoonfed team are excited and we are looking forward to feedback.

Twitter. It was written off by many people as a celeb driven fad but now it seems sure to stay. Spoonfed have been using Twitter since last summer to update our followers on news and events from around London and we’re going one step further and integrating the real-time updates to our site. Our pages for venues like KOKO and areas around London like Soho will also pick out relevant information from Twitter from around the area or updates from specific venues and their upcoming events.
Below are just a few of the Spoonfed pages that we have linked up to Twitter so far:
There were a few late arrivals to work yesterday morning, but instead of the usual array of excuses like alarms not going off or lost keys, all the late-comers were tardy for exactly the same reason. Protesters took to the streets around Bank and Moorgate ahead of today’s G20 summit in London where world leaders will meet to announce a global plan for recovery and reform.
Everyone in the office was been following the protests throughout the day via Twitter updates. This may be first London event that managed to capitalise on the real-time effect of Twitter. Spoonfed’s DJ Editor Lowri went down there during lunch to check out what was going on and posted updates to Spoonfed’s Twitter stream too.
According to on-lookers the situation got violent as police clashed with a mixture of environmental protesters and those angry at the banker’s role in the recession.
Lowri wrote up a news piece on the events with more information about the groups involved. You can see it on Spoonfed here.
